Red Cherry Director of Coffee and founding partner Audrey Goodridge was so intrigued and captivated by Central American coffees she went there. What an amazing experience, and what incredible people.
Perhaps the proximity of the region to the US market has helped, but we’ve found farmers from the Americas have a serious passion for high quality standards. Coffee cherries are only picked when they are ripe, and often farmers, such as Aida Battle in El Salvador or Jaime Cardena in Costa Rica, will experiment with different methods of processing the same harvest, delivering a cup profile so different you may think they were from different growing regions, let alone different farms. We continue to be amazed by the quality of coffee coming from this region, and their passion, often under difficult climatic and political circumstances. The Americas really are at the cutting edge.
